Boštjan Kavčič was born in Šempeter near Gorica, Slovenia in 1973. He attended primary school in Tolmin and secondary school for electrical engineering in Nova Gorica. In 1997, he graduated in Banking and Finance from the Faculty of Economics and Business in Maribor.
Between 1997 and 2003 he studied Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana (ALUO). During his studies, he received the University Prešeren Award for Sculpture and graduated in the class of Prof. Lujo Vodopivec. From 2003 to 2005, he was a scholarship holder of the Ministry of Culture for his postgraduate studies in Video at ALUO, obtaining his master's degree under the supervision of Prof. Srečo Dragan in 2007.
He has presented himself in numerous solo and group exhibitions. He has participated in various international symposia and has installed many public works. His works are included in the collections of Generali, Maribor Art Gallery, Museum of Dolenjska, Božidar Jakac Gallery Kostanjevica na Krki, Lendava Museum-Gallery, Tolmin Museum and the DIVA digital archive. Since 2007, he has been working as an independent cultural worker under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia. He lives and works in Rodine in Bela krajina. He is a member of the Society of Visual Artists of Dolenjska, Bela krajina and Posavje and a member of the Slovenian Association of Fine Arts Societies (ZDSLU).
